XVIII — Gaia 6.0

1. Quarantine Zone

• Governments around the world set up protection centers across the planet to deal with hostile entities, and people don’t seem to be treated properly in those centers.
• Ed and Ana patrol the areas outside the protection centers to kill Bugs.

2—5

• During the UN General Assembly, member states are in favor of shutting down Infinix, so military forces from various nations are sent to connect with the system and are now tasked to eliminate Gabi.

• Tau Task Force (TTF) composed of Jeco, Syrox, Isaac and Johnny manages to travel to Earth through the Breach, so they can discuss with Ed an attack to the connection stations that are sending military forces to Earth.
  • Ed supports the idea; Ana tells him to be careful and to be sure of what is the right side.
• Jeco rides a Nyx-powered hovering motorcycle which is envied by Lisa.
• Ed wants to get his Nyx abilities back to help them and to protect Infinix but that seems impossible.

6. One Million Voices

• As people of Infinix are getting slaughtered by invaders, Gabi is getting blamed by her people, questioning her role as Queen.

7. Can’t Save Everyone

• Gabi also blames herself, as Earth and Infinix are getting invaded by both sides because of her.
• In a ruined town, Gabi reunites with Cati and meets a group of people who are her supporters, and they cheer for her.

• Someone made you carry a burden you didn’t ask for, didn’t they?
• Someone trying to create through their own means what they didn’t manage to preserve.
• And now, the whole system stands at your shoulders.

8—12

• Gabi’s supporters help her rebuild.

13. Lost Queries

• GCC finds an abandoned facility in Georgia related to Project Infinix. There are lots of decomposing dead bodies, but they don’t seem to have been caused by the recent Dimensional Breach.
• Lisa has a huge déjà vu and feels very uncomfortable in that place.

14. Development Hell

• Some Bugs are roaming the facility, but it seems they might not be from the Dimensional Breach either, as rooms contain files and signs that experiments have been taking place with Bugs way before the Breach.

15—18

• They find records describing multiple iterations of Project Infinix.
  • These iterations (“Alpha”, “Beta”, “Gamma”, “Delta”, “Epsilon”, “Zeta”) have references on super AGI models, Nyx Energy, lab-grown humans, avatar connections, weaponized Nyx Bugs with armors and mounted guns, etc., dating all the way back to the 70’s.
  • Files on lab-grown humans have references to Lisa’s blood, with the title “Project Nyx Hominini II”.
  • “Project Infinix Eta branch 0.1” was under initial phases of development, featuring teleportation of entities from Infinix to Earth, the very same mechanic that caused the Dimensional Breach.
    • This means that physical Bugs have been studied and experimented on Earth years before the Dimensional Breach event.
  • Other files revealed the study of non-volatile traversable bidirectional pass-through portals between Earth and Infinix, instead of relying on consciousness-based brain interface connections, allowing complete bodies to pass through dimensions via wormhole-based technology.
    • These files had written “Theta branch??”, some were signed by Lupus and had references to “Erebus”, and there were lots of crossed out pages.
      • Maybe Lupus used this approach to connect Infinix to the Underworld, causing portal storms.

19. Certificate Authority

• There are files describing the original iteration of Project Infinix - Alpha 1.0, referencing a data center located somewhere in Ethiopia. - These files were signed by “Ed”.

20. System Log

• Some files list patch notes and system crash reports.

• The rifts reappeared and crashed the server.
• Rifts appeared when I tweaked Iotaland’s atmosphere - system crash.
• A rift grew rapidly on Munopolis’s surface - the planet exploded - system crash.
• Some rifts converged into a huge hole - system crash.
• A monster covered in fire emerged from a rift - system crash.
• Rifts appeared after enabling Nyx suppressor - system crash.
• Rifts still appeared after disabling it??? What is going on??? - system crash.

• A huge spread-out pile of files has huge letters written with a red marker.

21. Project Nyx Hominini

• They find a monitor and play some records.
  • Musca starts talking, triggering Lisa’s nightmares.
• Musca’s records reveal each step of his experiments for Project Nyx Hominini I.

22. The Twelve Olympians

• Musca gathered twelve children to test Nyx Energy running through human bodies.

• I wanted to create an army of gods to eventually fight the monsters I have witnessed with my own two eyes - violent and relentless, capable of trampling the whole world, bringing it into a total collapse.

• Musca seems to have been inspired by the “Titanomachy” story from Greek mythology - a war between the Titans and the Olympians.

Titanomachy

In Greek mythology, the Titanomachy refers to the epic war between the Titans, the older generation of gods led by Kronos, and the Olympians, the younger gods led by Zeus. The conflict lasted ten years and ended with the defeat of the Titans, who were then imprisoned in Tartarus. The Titanomachy symbolizes the struggle for cosmic order and the transition from the old generation of deities to the rule of the Olympian gods.

• Each of the twelve children (six boys and six girls) was injected with Nyx Energy molded to replicate the abilities of the twelve Olympians:
  • Zeus, Poseidon, Hera, Demeter, Aphrodite, Athena, Artemis, Apollo, Ares, Hephaestus, Hermes, and Hestia.
• Lisa says that the experiments they had on her were from the Delta branch, which is why she had a Δ (delta symbol) tattoo.
• The facility they’re in is Infinix’ Delta data center.

• Most subjects died, Zeus was a failure, Athena and Apollo escaped, but Artemis was crafted to perfection.

• The test subject “Zeus” was the electric subject that attacked Lisa in Siberia.

Zeus

Zeus is the king of the gods and ruler of the sky, thunder, and lightning. The youngest son of the Titan Kronos and the goddess Rhea, he overthrew his father and led the Olympian gods to victory in the Titanomachy. Zeus is often depicted wielding a thunderbolt and seated on a throne, symbolizing authority, law, and cosmic order.

• The test subject “Artemis” was Lisa.

Artemis is the goddess of the hunt, the wilderness, nature, the Moon, archery, childbirth, protection and plague. She is the twin sister of Apollo and is often depicted with a bow and arrows, accompanied by a deer or hunting dogs. Her symbols include the Moon, horse, deer, hound, she-bear, snake and cypress tree. Artemis is known for her virginity, independence, and protection of young women, as well as her role in punishing those who offended her or the natural order.

• Lisa finds a tape labeled “For Lisa”, and she plays the record.

• A hidden song will stir and breathe.
• Feathers flare and colors rise,
• Step forward now, embrace your prize,
• And take the leap… bird of paradise.

• Lisa’s sleeper agent awakens, and she gets hostile and unleashes her abilities against her colleagues.
  • For some reason, she’s not hostile to Ed.

24. Bird of Paradise

• Lisa disappears.
• Ed decides to reach the data center in Ethiopia.
